An Alternative to PPE

Marvin-suited-upAn arc flash suit may not provide adequate protection in many instances, especially when the worker cannot be positioned out of the line-of-fire.

NFPA 2012 Handbook for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, page 134 states:

“Some arc-rated clothing is rated for use with incident energy exposures up to 100 cal/cm2. The NFPA Technical Committee on Electrical Safety in the Workplace has determined that although it could be possible to protect a person from such extreme thermal exposure, the clothing would be unlikely to protect the worker from the effects of the accompanying pressure wave.”

MarTek Limited’s remote switching and racking products get the operator outside of the arc flash blast area and away from the line of fire. With magnetic attachment and custom fit for each switch, MCC, or breaker configuration available at MarTek, the remote switching and racking devices are simple to install, easy to use, and cost effective while providing maximum safety for the operator.
